Sadly, the winner will almost certainly be chosen by less than 30% of ALL eligible voters. Thus, our democracy will be the big loser as we will once again earn the shameful distinction of being 138th out of the democratic nations worldwide and dead last amongst the G-8 in voter turnout. We must now join together to solve this national crisis. We must make sure our democracy doesn’t lose again. To that end, we can begin right here, right now, if you, your friends, employees, and members of organizations you are a part of, vote twice: once on Election Day for whomever you prefer; and a second time by following this link to a quick and secure survey on ways to improve our voting system. With these simple acts, we will start a movement to strengthen our democracy. So please take a moment now and forward this link to everyone in your address book. When Martin Luther King was asked in 1965 why it took almost 200 years to break down the barriers to the voting booth for all citizens, he said it was “the silence of good people.” By coming together now, we can give voice to the urgent need to upgrade our voting system and make 2012 the last election cycle where our nation ranks among the bottom in a democratic process that is the foundation of our identity as a beacon of freedom to the world.
