We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: there is absolutely no good reason whatsoever America votes on Tuesdays. Not joking.

Today TED-Ed is spotlighting our executive director Jacob Soboroff’s recent talk about the history behind absurd reason we do still vote on Tuesday. Watch it to laugh, cry and hear a Chris Rock quote all in under four minutes.

And FTW, TED has added a bonus feature: an awesome lesson where you can quiz yourself, learn more and dig deeper.

If you haven’t yet, make sure to sign our petition to Congress and the President to, duh, move Election Day to the weekend so more people can vote.

About

We're a nonpartisan and nonprofit group, founded in 2005, dedicated to increasing America's horrible voter turnout by asking a simple question: why do we vote on Tuesday? The answer: absolutely no good reason whatsoever. You'll find a longer and equally infuriating answer in this TED talk.

We hope you'll sign our petition asking the President and Congress to pass The Weekend Voting Act, which would move elections to Saturday & Sunday (duh) so more people can vote.

We also have an old-school website.
